Before it

I don’t Know If it was just my gun in particular but i found that it’s range was terrible. other things i didnt like about it was that the enormus drum clip takes at least 5 minutes to reload cause you have to find all the darts and then reload. not a very good gun:(
where can i find this?

This extra nerf gun is essential for playing against an opponent in the wii nerf game. My sons, 10 and 12, love it!

Having grown up with the original Nintendo Light Gun for the NES and the Power Scope for the SNES I was always slightly disappointed that Nintendo’s subsequent systems the N64 and the Game Cube did not include the capability for a gun periphery (or at the very least one which became popular). However the new Generation of Nintendo system, the Wii with its simple wireless controller, reminiscent of a simplified television remote has inspired several peripherals that seek to recapture that classic Nintendo light gun and arcade shooter feel. All these peripherals work on the same basic principle, the player puts their we remote controller into a plastic frame that simulates, more or less, the feel of a gun. Or to be more accurate, simulates the feel of a game controller shaped like a gun. What sets this particular peripheral apart is that it was created by the makers of the popular Nerf line of toy guns. While at the very least this means they should have some experience creating toy guns but have found a novel means to keep the fun going even if the game system is turned off. The Nerf switch shot blaster can serve as either a toy Nerf gun or can be used to make the remote control for the Nintendo Wii (game controller not included) feel more like a gun for shoot-em up games. The conversion between Nerf gun and Nintendo Wii peripheral is quick and simple. For the most part it feels comfortable in either form of play. (however the handle is on the smaller side as it is marketed primarily for children).
If the gun has any failings it would be the placement of the tactical rail. The Switch-Shot is part of the current generation of Nerf dart guns dubbed the “N-Strike Line”. The line is characterized by certain design elements, most notably the “Tactical Rail” system. These tactical rails allow various accessories such as flashlights, “laser-sights” and even other dart blasters to be attached to the gun. When I saw pictures of the gun my interest was piqued because on the Switch-shot the tactical rail to attach Nerf flashlights or laser sights has been placed under the barrel, as opposed to over the barrel as in most of the other guns. However I was disappointed too find that when the Nerf Laser sight accessory was attached to the gun, it actually becomes more awkward to hold. While this is not the first time the tactical rail system has fallen short of its full potential (i.e. the Maverick), it’s a disappointment that this issue wasn’t caught in the design process.
However overall I rate this fairly high as the idea of a game controller that can be used to play when the system is off, and produced by a well known and trusted toy company was such a good idea I suspect I will be having fun with it for years.

I don’t understand why this gun (as a separate accessory to the video game) is so hard to find. The video game (Nerf N-Strike Elite for the Wii) was just released in 2009, so you’d think there would be more of these Switch Shot guns available. The video game only comes with one gun. Two guns are not necessary to play the game, you can just use the Wii remote by itself by pointing it and pushing the buttons. But it’s much more fun to play it with these gun controllers, so I wanted two.
I haven’t tried it for shooting darts; the reason I got it was for the video game. It’s identical to the blue gun that comes with the game. The Wii remote fits securely in the gun, and the trigger control works as it should. The red ‘reveal’ lens also does what it’s supposed to: reveal secret codes on the screen in the game. I have no complaints regarding the construction, quality, or function of this gun/controller. It was worth the cost, since it makes the video game twice as much fun when you can team up with someone for two-player blasting (even my 75-year-old father enjoyed it after I convinced him to try it).
The grip is just a hair on the short side. Not a problem for kids, may be for adults. It fits my kids’ hands just fine. For me, I wear large-size gloves, and I don’t have a problem with the grip on this gun. There is enough room to get all my fingers on the grip. It’s a bit snug, but not enough to be uncomfortable. Although I can see this possibly being a problem for adults with meatier fingers than mine.
Another advantage to having two of these guns for the video game: I tried it on two-player, but playing by myself with one gun in each hand. It’s a bit of a challenge keeping track of two reticles (the crosshairs) on the screen at the same time, but it gets easier with a little practice and it’s a lot of fun defending against the robot enemies and blasting away with two pistols at the same time. Call me a big kid, but the video game can be even more fun with two guns than one.
One caveat: There is another Switch Shot gun that is very similar to this one. It’s yellow, not blue like this one. It’s the same design and can be used with the Wii remote for the video game, but it does NOT have the reveal lens. This is not a problem, as long as you keep in mind the person using the blue gun (when playing two-player) with the reveal lens will need to be the person designated to read the secret codes on-screen.

My son loves 13yo son loves this game, was a little disappointed how quickly he beat it, but started over happily.

My son has a large arsenal of Nerf guns, numbering well into the two-digits. This one has to be the worst non-electric Nerf ever.
With so many detachable parts, this N-Strike has the looks. My son specifically requested it. After he opened the package, he spent the next hour trying out the various configurations with a big grin on his face. Once he started firing the darts, however, we immediately realize why there is an un-jamming hatch built into the design. Half of the darts get chewed up. The other half barely drip out the barrel. Now this gun is for posing only.
For those interested in a real shooting Nerf war, stay with the Rapid Fire series.

My son and I, (and my teenage daughter) have been using this gun along with an arsenal of other nerf shooters and chasing each other around the house for years now. And while the recon was THE gun that everyone wanted to use, the frequent jams made eventually made it the least popular choice as you could expect to be hit with a lot of bullets while you tried free up the jam. As more bullets got bent and chewed up, the gun tended to jam more often until you couldn’t get through a single clip without having to stop and check it.
But, I watched a Youtube video recently that explained that the jams happen toward the front of the cylinder so that if you load the clip with the bullets flush against the back of the clip, (you can tap the back of the clip on a table a few times to make sure) it almost completely eliminates the jams. Even with old, bent bullets.
Since I have learned this trick I have been using the recon exclusively because of the power and six shot clip. Nerf guns rock and we have a fantastic time hiding behind furniture and using doors for cover. Families that shoot each other with nerf guns probably get out a lot of frustrations with each other. Consider it therapy.

This nerf N-Strike Recon is a realitively normal dart gun. It comes with multiple accesories that are slightly helpful at best. The only really useful accesory is the sight. The long barrel slows the bullet down, cuts down on range, and makes it less accurate. The gun is reloaded using the clip system and only takes streamlined bullets.
In conclution, the N-Strike Recon is the perfect accesory gun. Otherwise, buy three Mavericks for the same price.

its a pretty good gun but does jam a lot. not to be one of those people who bad mouth the whole gun. but it is cool.
pros:
has an awesome sight
good at accuracy
able the switch parts
cons: jams a lot

This Nerf Gun is a great one. When you open the box you can see the massve power right away. Also the only problem is when, you have to re load the massve drum. The two different firing modes are nice. but the best part is when you get into a war. The gun is not to heavy meaning that you can run faster.(unlike other guns). Also if you are firing it takes a long time to fire ALL 35 darts. The down side is you have to worry about losing your darts because there are so many. The range is good 20-30 FT., and is farily accurate depending on your dart. So this gun is really good and probably the best so far.

i think it is a great gun. the slam fire mode is really cool. You hold the trigger in and pump the handle back and foward. it shoots far too. i got mine 2 shoot 40 feet angled. the drum mag is great, but it makes the gun lean to one side. the only other bad thing is that sometimes the darts go 40 feet, but sometimes they only go two. it has a adjustable stock, and 2 tactical rails. the gun is so cool, the person you are shooting at will have no idea that 35 darts are about to slam into him:)
Oh. Just to clear something up the “Bullets” are called DARTS! The Drum magizene is not called “Drum thingy.” For some reason, it bugs me when people do not call them by the rightname. Oh, and if you think that 30-40 feet range on the gun is bad, Nerf was made for kids. But then again, I am a kid.:)

THis is a great nerf product, i’d watch who you buy it for though. I bought it for my eight year old nephew and a year later, the darts are all missing… to many to keep track of for the young ones to really care… he also puts it through hell, and its still kickin’ so the duribility factor is outstanding. Definetly a recommended buy!

The NERF Raider CS-35 is an excellent blaster for someone to start getting into NERF, especially if you go for the 70-dart bonus pack that is sold here for only a couple extra dollars than this. With 70 darts total, you won’t have to worry as much about losing darts, and the CS-35 drum clip is compatible with many other NERF blasters like the Recon and Longshot.
The Raider has one major main feature, the slam-fire semi-auto. This allows you to quickly fire darts at a much higher rate than most other spring-powered blasters, by simply holding down the trigger and sliding the priming handle back and forth. The only blasters I can think of that can shoot faster than this are the Chainblazer, a much older NERF blaster, the Rapid Fire 20 and the Magstrike, which both are air-powered.
However, the Raider sacrifices range for its rapid firing ability. With its reverse plunger system, it cannot shoot as far as direct plunger blasters such as the Longshot CS-6 or even a Nite Finder EX-3. This is also why the Longstrike has much less range than a Longshot. If you modify or play competitively, this is a consideration you will have to take into account.
This is a great blaster all in all, just wish it wasn’t reverse plunger.

They were a good price for the amount and just what my son needed for his dart gun.

These are as advertised and nothing more. If you need them then worth buying if you can get a decent price on them.

I bought this item after experience shortage of darts while playing with my 2 daughters. We kept on having to stop the game to pick up darts. After getting this, we can keep on playing for a long time. We’re losing these darts like crazy though. Blame it on all the junks in the house my wife bought.

We had a lot of fun with extra dart tag. This is a good buy. I am going to buy one more set.

I purchased this toy for my sons’ enjoyment. I instructed them to be careful but I was confident in the safety of the toy. No where in the gun literature did it say that the gun would still fire even within close range. My youngest son suffered a contusion on the cheek and my older son had a red mark on his forehead for more than 2 hours. Beware – the gun DOES FIRE no matter where you aim it.

I bought this “gun” on the recommendation of one of my high school tutoring students. He likes the Nerf Maverick and says that some of his teachers own them for shootouts in school. My purchase was made to dissuade those rascally squirrls who insist on eating from our backyard tray feeder.
Pulling back the spring loaded slide requires more than a little effort, making it quite a challenge for any five or six-year-old. The six included darts load into the rotating chamber, but only one shot can be taken per pullback.
Our birdfeeder is 26 feet from the deck, a distance I assumed would be within the range of this benign weapon. The darts reach the squirrels in the feeder (weakly) if I aim above their heads and adjust for wind conditions, temperature, and phases of the moon. I’ve only hit one squirrel and that was on the bounce as he was bounding away from the feeder.
I can only imagine that this toy would be lots of fun for a kid or a grown up kid as long as he or she has the strength to pull back the spring loader. I may be buying some of the whistling darts because I’ve read that in addition to making a cool, intimidating noise, they travel further

The Maverick REV-6 could be the most famous nerf blaster of all nerf guns. This gun is a lock and load blaster. This and all nerf guns are cool.
